Fabulous Time In Sydney Australia...You Need To Be In The Right Place And Time

The current time in Sydney Australia is:

The vastness of Australia has resulted in the creation of three time zones and differences of climates in every states. The Eastern StandardTime (EST) applies to New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland. The Central Standard Time (CST) is for South Australia and the Northern Territory; and Western Standard Time (WST) to Western Australia. CST is half and hour behindEST, while WST is two hours behind.

Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales lies in the Australian Eastern Standard Time(EST) zone(GMT/UTC +10). Day Light Saving Time(DST)is from October to March (GMT/UTC +11). ( What the heck! You don't have to worry about this stuff. Just ask the local when you get here. They will gladly give you the time in Sydney.)

An exceptional temperate weather in Sydney is one of the Harbour City's best assets. Visitors and locals are therefore assured a year round fabulous time in Sydney Australia.

Below are some short trips outside of Sydney that you can take , depending on the season and your duration of stay.

Summer Time In Sydney Australia

Don't expect white Christmas in Sydney! Christmas time in Sydney is spent on the beach .

Christmas time in Sydney

Summer time begins in December until February. With warm to hot days and plenty of sunshine and low humidity, Sydney beaches like Bondi beach are the best placesto cool down.

Sydneysiders are in their singlets, shorts and thongs drinking stubbies and having a yarn...and roasted turkeys are replaced by prawnscooked in the barbie.

The best time to be in Sydney Australia is in January. It is the start of Sydney Festival, the liveliest time in Sydney. The city is awashedwith different things to do and see, night and day, including free events for your enjoyment.

The Sydney Festival time starts with a very big bang...the dazzling New Year's Eve fireworks! It is a spectacular display of sparkle and colour, lighting Sydney Harbour with the Harbour Bridge as its centrepiece.

Sydney New Year's eve fireworks

From morning to dawn, Sydneysiders celebrate and party as they flock to the city to reserve their places in the vintage locations around the harbour to catch the splendid fireworks.

Miss the New Year's Eve fireworks? Then this time don't miss the equally spectacular January 26 Australia Day fireworks. Celebrations are all around Sydney with some local government areas like Parramatta staging their own fireworks at night.

Autumn Time In Sydney Australia

You know it's autumn when Sydney's landscape takes on a spectacular colour. The city's parks and garden changes, as leaves of red, goldand crimson appear. The season is made of mild days and cool nights.

autumm in Sydney

It is one of my favourite time of the year, not hot or cold, but warm enough to still hit the beach. Because of the depletion of the ozone layer in this part of the planet, Australia has one of the highest cases of skin cancer in the world. So be sun smart... slip on a shirt, slopon a sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek a shade and slide on a sunglasses.

Autumm is also "Showtime", where the country goes to the city. The Sydney Royal Easter Show holds their annual extravaganza showcasingand honouring Australia's agricultural heritage. It is held at the Sydney Showground of the Sydney Olympic Park, the home of the 2000 Sydney Olympics . Some 900,000 visitors flock thisnational iconic event making it one of the largest agricultural event in the world.

From Thursday before Easter Sunday, visitors are treated for two weeks by live music and entertainments, action packed performances, rides andsideshows, food and shopping.

Autumm runs from March to May and it is also the best time in Sydney Australia for bushwalking.

Winter Time In Sydney Australia

Are you from a country that does not snow? Then, this is the time to visit Sydney. The winter season runs from June to August. The nights and early mornings are briskly cold with occasional fog and frost which clear to striking sunny days.

Winter in Manly Beach

The beauty about winter time in Sydney Australia is that the temperatures rarely drop to 5 degrees C. It does not snow in Sydney!...but if you want to see and experience some snow, it is only six hours drive away.

There are many tour operators running a day and overnight tours to the Snowy Mountains at Mt Kosciuszko during this time. Learn how to ski or 'tobogganing' in one of the many ski resorts. You may not ski like a pro at the end of the day, but it is a worthwhile experience.

Have you heard about Christmas in July? This unique Sydney experience is in July (of course!), the coldest month of winter. As traditional white Christmas is celebrated in December in the Northern Hemisphere, this is Sydney's version of white Christmas.

The Blue Mountains, one hour drive from the city is the place to be. Here is the perfect place and time to snuggle up in front of the fireplace and experience the traditional western Christmas dinner of roast turkey with the snow falling outside if you are lucky.

Spring Time In Sydney Australia

Another favourite season of mine is spring. As the weather in Sydney starts to warm up, everything starts to come alive after three months of hibernation. There is a different aura in the air as the city blooms into spring colours. Mornings are moderately fresh, sunny bright days and mild cool nights.

Sydney wildlife

It is also the best time to visit Canberra, Australia's capital city. From September to October, Canberra holds its annual spring festival of Floriade.

This spectacular spring celebration is the biggest floral festival in Australia. Set in Commonwealth Park, Canberra, it is three hours drivefrom Sydney. Some 9,105 square metres of garden beds are planted with mixture of bulbs and annuals creating a landscape of great colours. Someof the blooms include tulips, irises, daffodils, chrysanthemums and daises.

Amidst this backdrop, the thousands of visitors enjoy live entertainment, rides, informative and educational workshops and sampleregional food and wine.

What are my favourite atrractions in Canberra aside from the Floriade? On a day visit, which you would probably do, there are three of them. The fist one is...

New Parliament House. See the place where Australia's future is being debated by opposing political parties. Free tours are conductedregularly. My second favourite is...

Australian War Memorial. It is a shrine, a museum and archive combined. You will enjoy its extensive military collections and exhibits. It is open daily except Christmas and admission is free. And the last is...

Cockington Green Gardens. Venture and be mesmerised by this miniature park of fascinating and meticulously crafted miniature buildings setwithin a beautiful landscape garden. It is family owned and operated, and sorry...not free.
