Sydney Wildlife World Bringing You The Wild Side Of Austalia In The City

No time to go to the outback and see the wild side of Australia?
Sydney Wildlife World is the answer!
Situated in Sydney's Darling Harbor, Sydney Wildlife World is a zoo with difference. Its construction started in 2004 and ended in 2006 at a cost of AUD$ 52 million. Wildlife World boasts 6000 animals spread over 130 different native Australian animal species. Here you can view Australia's most famous animals such as the koala as well as some of the more bizarre like the Tasmania devil. ...all this contained in a 1- kilometer long enclosure!
Whether you are an Australian or a foreigner, it is an incredible place to visit with the whole family.
Since it is located within the city, it brings the experience of the Australian wild within convenient distance.
You don't have to worry about poor weather disrupting your plans because it is an indoor facility.
Using natural elements as well as modern technology, the Wildlife World zoo creates a natural
environment complete with a great good sound system and graphics to create a memorable experience.
The viewing areas are air conditioned making it comfortable even when there are several people in the same area.

The walk through the Wildlife World with glass displays on either side is just like walking through a museum - only that this time the animals are alive and in their own natural habitat. From the kangaroo to the endangered cassowary and from colorful butterflies to deadly spiders, the sheer variety will leave even an otherwise indifferent visitor captivated. Sydney Wildlife World is divided into 10 key zones: - Semi-Arid Grassland
- The Koala Sanctuary
- Koala Rooftop
- Wallaby Cliffs
- Rainforest
- Reptiles
- Invertebrates
- Nocturnal
- Butterflies
- The Kakadu Gorge
The Semi-Arid Grassland houses the red kangaroos. It is an 800 square meter habitat with red sand that
was transported directly from central Australia.
The Kakadu Gorge was unveiled in 2009 which mirrors the
habitat and wildlife of Australia's Northern Territory. The Kakadu Gorge habitat is host to one of Sydney
Wildlife World most popular exhibits - a 5 meter long saltwater crocodile named Rex.
Viewing the crocodile through the glass from both below and above the water line has been made easier thanks
to a viewing stand.
Even though the Kakadu Gorge habitat cost AUD$ 5 million to setup, it is worth every penny
if the experience of visitors is anything to go by. Apart from the crocodile, Kadaku Gorge also features different
fish and bird species from Australia's north.
But it is not just the animals that make visiting Sydney Wildlife World such an unforgettable experience. Wildlife World zoo showcases a huge variety of Australia's indigenous plants from full grown trees to vines and ground creepers.

Due to its close proximity to the city, the Wildlife World is especially suitable for visitors with limited
time to see all that Australia has got to offer but that still want to appreciate the fauna and flora of this
huge subcontinent. The Wildlife World has excellent facilities and is fully accessible using wheel chairs.
One can also hire strollers for the kids for the duration of the tour.
The Wildlife World is not only entertaining but also informative. It is a great way of educating kids and adults, Australians and non-Australians, on Australia's ecological diversity, including its past and the present. As you pay the entrance fee, you also play your part in supporting conservation and sustainable use of the country's plant and animal resources. Why not have a picture of yourself and a koala to immortalize your visit and unforgettable experience? And at the end of your walk through Sydney Wildlife World, you can also buy memorabilia from the gift shop as a great way of reminding yourself of the time well spent. 2007 saw the Sydney Wildlife World winning the best family focused tourism award. That in itself should provide reason enough why anyone visiting Sydney or Australia to have it as part of their itinerary!
